Under the Great Speech, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia outline several policies and initiatives designed and tailored to tackle all the sectors in the country. These Bold Solutions will seek to address the issues and problems in the country serving as lasting Panacea Ghanaians have been waiting for. Under the Governance sector, Dr. Bawumia outlined these four unique initiatives to tackle the issues affecting the sector.
1.Align political party manifestos and government policies with national development plans
Policies and manifestos will resonate with national development plans. Both party manifesto and policies will be tailored towards national development.
2.Amend the Constitution to address various issues
This policy aims at amendment of the constitution on various issues to promote peace, stability, growth, inclusiveness and development in the country.
3.Fiscal and administrative decentralization
This policy will address the process of shifting the responsibilities of revenue collection and expenditure execution from the central to subnational authorities. This policy is important because It supports subnational governments in raising taxes, improved tax administration and collection by the authorities, and improved tax compliance by the tax payers.
4.Empower private sector to build infrastructure
This policy seek to empower and motivate the private sector into building more infrastructure to attract investors and to push for growth and development.
5.Prioritize full implementation of Affirmative Action Act
This policies seeks to fully implement the Affirmative Action Act which will allow women members to represent the regions of the country in the legislature. The law recognized that women’s political participation is a critical component of democratic dialogue and social cohesion.
6.Reduce number of Ministers to 50
In order to protect the public purse and prevent debt and large budgets this policies seeks to reduce the number of ministers to just 50. This help in protecting the public purse and reduce our debt level.
