A heavy rainstorm on Monday morning in Walewale and the surrounding areas did not discourage the enthusiastic residents from coming out in large numbers to welcome Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, a native of the region.
The flagbearer of the NPP arrived in the North East Region, his home region, to begin a campaign tour of the area as part of his nationwide tour.
Despite the rain, a multitude of young and old individuals gathered in Nasia, a town before Walewale, and surrounded his bus with cheers and chants of support.
Many of the excited crowd, including those on motorbikes, led Dr. Bawumia’s convoy in a procession as he made his way to Walewale and then to the regional capital, Nalerigu.
Dr. Bawumia electrified the crowd as he stepped off his bus and joined them in the rain on the Walewale to Bolga road. During his visit, Dr. Bawumia is scheduled to meet with the Nayiri, the Overlord of Mamprugu, as he has done during his previous regional tours.
Additionally, as is customary during his visits, Dr. Bawumia will engage in discussions with the Clergy, Imams, and the North East Regional House of Chiefs.
He plans to involve the younger generation in a dynamic discussion.
