Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante, a Senior Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, has refuted claims that Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, is arrogant.
According to Dr. Asah-Asante, the Manhyia South MP is courageous and bold, never hesitating to express his opinions. This assessment comes after a survey by the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) revealed that Dr. Prempeh is highly favored among NPP members to be the running mate of their flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Dr. Prempeh received an impressive 76.2% of the votes from the 5116 executives who participated in the survey. In second place was Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education and MP for Bosomtwe, with 10.16% of the votes.
Other notable individuals being considered for the role include Apostle Opoku Onyinah, former Chairman of the Pentecost Church-Ghana, and Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of Agriculture and MP for Abetifi Constituency.
However, during an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Thursday, Dr. Asah-Asante confidently stated that he has no doubts about Napo’s suitability for the position, emphasizing that the survey accurately reflects the current situation on the ground.
His boldness and free spirit make him distinct and stands tall among the other candidates. Politics is not meant for the faint-hearted and cowardly, we can’t use them for anything.
In correlated progress, while Dr Bawumia confronts the task of selecting his running mate, the survey indicated a unanimous agreement that the individual should be chosen from the Ashanti Region.
