DR. BAWUMIA URGES CITIZENS TO HOLD LEADERS ACCOUNTABLE, REGARDLESS OF THEIR POLITICAL OR RELIGIOUS AFFILIATIONS

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has urged citizens to reflect on the consequences of their current actions and inactions for the future security of the country. He emphasized the importance of holding leaders accountable at every level, regardless of political or religious affiliations.

Dr. Bawumia delivered these remarks during the opening of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church’s 2nd Biennial Joint Session of the East, West, and Mid Ghana Conferences in Gomoa, Central Region. He praised the church for its significant contributions to national development, particularly in healthcare, primary, and secondary education.

The conference, centered around ‘The Freedom Church: A Movement Empowered by the Holy Spirit: Securing Our Future,’ has drawn delegates from throughout the country. Attendees will assess past endeavours and set a new course for the future.

While recognizing the AME Zion Church’s efforts and contributions to national development, Dr. Bawumia underscored the ongoing need for collective effort. He urged the congregation not to falter in their commitment to nation-building.

He appealed to Ghanaians to prioritize personal hygiene and show respect for the environment.

In an Episcopal address, Rt. Rev. Dr. Hillard Dela Dogbe, the Presiding Bishop of the A.M.E Zion Church, expressed gratitude for God’s grace amid challenges, noting the church’s global growth.

Regarding the upcoming general elections, Rev. Dr. Dogbe urged Ghanaians to prioritize peace and uphold the nation’s dignity before and after the elections. He emphasized the importance of all parties, including political parties, maintaining respectful communication and fostering tolerance across political and religious affiliations.

He cautioned the youth not to avail themselves of being used as weapons for destruction.

Addressing the conference theme, Rev. Dr. Dogbe emphasized that God remains the central focus of the church.

He highlighted the church’s intention to utilize the growing voice of the youth to drive positive change within both the church and the broader nation.

The AME Zion Church has initiated several projects nationwide, including the establishment of a hospital equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to improve service delivery.

Dr. Bawumia promised to donate an ambulance to the hospital.
