DR. BAWUMIA PROMISES TO BUILD NURSING TRAINING COLLEGE IN BUILSA NORTH

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has pledged to construct a nursing training college in the Builsa North Municipality of the Upper East Region if he becomes president.

During a visit to the Sandem-Nab, Paramount Chief of the Builsa Traditional Area, Nab Azaksuk Azantilow, Dr. Bawumia stated, “A tertiary institution in this district is something that I want to promise you as president; I will make sure you have it…”

Dr. Bawumia made this promise at the Chief’s Palace on the first day of his regional tour, responding to Nab Azantilow’s repeated appeals for a tertiary institution and other essential projects. The Paramount Chief highlighted the need for a cold system at the Sandema Hospital, which currently does not provide mortuary services, and a nursing training college whose construction had stalled due to lack of funding.

“We indeed have a site for the establishment of a nursing training college, which stalled due to lack of funding. My people and I will prioritize your votes, and hope that you will take this into account, and you shall be rewarded in return,” Nab Azantilow emphasized.

Dr. Bawumia expressed his commitment to the chieftaincy institution and the development of the area.

He stated “Nab, we have a lot of things to do, but I will be in a position to help if you make me president of the Republic of Ghana. I will be able to do a lot, and if you bring Thomas Alonsi to be Member of Parliament for Builsa North, together, we will be able to do a lot.”

The Vice President’s commitment to education in northern Ghana is underscored by other NPP initiatives, such as the establishment of new technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, and the expansion of senior high schools (SHS) under the Free SHS policy.

Dr. Bawumia was accompanied by key figures including Mr. Dominic Nitiwul, Minister for Defence; Mr. Mustapha Ussif, Minister for Youth and Sports; Mr. Ambrose Dery, former Minister for the Interior; Alhaji Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, Upper East Regional Minister; Mr. John Boadu, former General Secretary of the NPP; and Madam Tangoba Abayage, former Upper East Regional Minister, among others.

Dr. Bawumia’s visit highlights the NPP’s continued commitment to addressing educational and infrastructural needs in northern Ghana, promising transformative development if given the mandate in the upcoming elections.
