In a notable turn of events, the Ghana Professional Tailors and Dressmakers Association has expressed its support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate representing the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), in anticipation of the 2024 general elections.
This endorsement, revealed during the association’s annual conference held in Wenchi, Bono Region, is regarded as a significant advantage for the NPP, which has been highlighting its accomplishments in the vocational training arena.
Kofi Poku, the National President of the Association, stated that the choice to endorse Bawumia followed a comprehensive evaluation of the NPP’s performance and policies, which have favorably influenced the tailoring and dressmaking sector.
Poku pointed out specific initiatives undertaken by the NPP government, such as the professionalization of the industry through legal and regulatory reforms, as well as the introduction of Free TVET, which has fostered a conducive environment for growth and advancement within the sector.
The endorsement received a positive response from Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the NPP’s Vice Presidential Candidate, who reiterated the party’s dedication to promoting technical and vocational training.
