Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice-President and presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has committed GHC200,000 to the Yagbonwura Educational Fund, a new initiative designed to improve educational standards in Gonjaland.
The fund was launched on Monday (23 September) in Damongo, Savannah Region, where Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam also donated GHC100,000.
The donations were made by Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana, the Savannah regional chairman of the NPP, commonly referred to as “Prof Kalamonia.”
Sulemana clarified that Bawumia’s support arises from concerns about the declining educational standards in the region.
