BAWUMIA’S ELECTRIC BUSES HEADED TO GHANA, SET TO CUT TRANSPORT COSTS BY 40% – NEIP CEO

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party, is poised to bring about a significant transformation in Ghana’s transportation landscape with his groundbreaking initiative to introduce electronic buses.

This initiative is not just a step forward in modernizing public transport but is expected to have a profound impact on the daily lives of commuters across the nation.

According to Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), these innovative electric buses are currently en route to Ghana and are projected to reduce transportation costs by as much as 40%. This cost reduction is expected to alleviate the financial burden on commuters, making travel more affordable for all.

The introduction of these electric buses aligns seamlessly with the government’s broader vision of promoting sustainable transport solutions. In a time when traffic congestion and environmental pollution pose significant challenges to urban living, this initiative aims to address these issues head-on.

Nkansah emphasized that the deployment of electric buses will not only enhance the efficiency of public transportation but will also contribute to creating a cleaner and greener environment in cities, ultimately improving the quality of life for residents.

Beyond the financial benefits, the new electronic buses are designed to enhance the overall commuting experience for passengers. Equipped with modern amenities and designed to operate with reduced noise levels compared to traditional diesel buses, these vehicles will provide a more comfortable, enjoyable, and eco-friendly alternative for daily travelers.

As Ghana embraces this shift towards sustainable transportation, the introduction of electric buses marks a significant milestone in the country’s journey toward a more efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly public transport system.

Dr Bawumia’s electric buses will be in by this month’s ending. No fuel cost, low maintenance. Public transport fares to be reduced by about 40%
