President Nana Akufo-Addo has raised an important inquiry directed at former President John Dramani Mahama concerning the security and future of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) initiative.
In a recent speech delivered in the Northern Region, President Akufo-Addo criticized Mr. Mahama for his conflicting opinions on the program, which is designed to offer free education to Ghanaian students at the senior high school level.
The President underscored the necessity for Ghanaians to receive clear information regarding Mahama’s position on the Free SHS policy, given its significant impact on the country’s educational system.
He voiced apprehension that Mahama’s varying statements could lead to voter confusion regarding the former president’s genuine views on this crucial matter, especially with the upcoming 2024 elections on the horizon.
Additionally, President Akufo-Addo contended that any presidential aspirant who is unable to provide a clear response to the question of the safety of Free SHS should not be deemed suitable for the presidency.
Mr Mahama, which is which? What should the Ghanaian people take from you as your position on the Free SHS policy? Is it safe with you and are you going to continue with it or are you going to cancel it? Nobody should be allowed to be president if he can’t answer this question straightforwardly.
