BAWUMIA TO COMMISSION NEW LANDS COMMISSION HEAD OFFICE ON MONDAY

In a significant milestone for Ghana’s land administration and management, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is set to commission the new head office of the Lands Commission on Monday, November 25, 2024. This state-of-the-art facility represents a major step forward in the government’s efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of land management in the country.

The new Lands Commission head office, located adjacent to the Survey School in the vicinity of the 37 Military Hospital, is strategically positioned to serve as a hub for the Commission’s activities. The modern building has been specifically designed to provide a conducive and technologically advanced environment, which will enhance the Commission’s ability to carry out its important mandate of land administration, registration, and management.

With this new facility, the Lands Commission aims to streamline its services, making them more accessible and efficient for the people of Ghana. It is expected to significantly improve the turnaround time for land-related services and ensure that land records are better managed, helping to address the longstanding challenges in land administration.

The commissioning of the head office is a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to improving the business environment in Ghana, supporting economic development, and ensuring that land resources are managed in a transparent and effective manner.

The seven-story building features cutting-edge technological infrastructure designed to improve operations and services. In addition to office spaces, it includes a baby care center, a gymnasium, and a 250-seater auditorium, ensuring that the facility caters to the diverse needs of its users.

The commissioning ceremony will bring together a wide range of stakeholders, including Chief Executive Officers of Land Sector Agencies, agencies under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, the Parliamentary Select Committee on Lands and Forestry, former Executive Secretaries of the Lands Commission, Traditional Authorities, and staff from the Lands Commission within the Greater Accra Region.

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, will join Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in unveiling the new head office, marking an important moment in Ghana’s land administration journey.

This new development is a clear reflection of the government’s ongoing efforts to modernize land administration, enhance transparency, and improve the overall efficiency of land management in the country. The Lands Commission’s new head office is poised to strengthen the governance of the land sector, ensuring better service delivery for all Ghanaians and fostering economic growth.
