A MUSLIM CAN BE PRESIDENT – PASTOR SLAMS NDC’S TRIBAL POLITICS

Rev. Anthony Cudjoe, Senior Pastor of ICGC Calvary Temple, has publicly backed Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential bid, addressing concerns over Bawumia’s Muslim faith.

A Muslim can lead this nation, and Ghana could thrive. If God intends to do something, He can use anyone, regardless of their background.

The pastor emphasized that throughout history, God has often chosen unexpected people to fulfill His purpose. He drew a parallel with biblical figures, saying,

Why did God choose Silas, my anointed one? He wasn’t a Jew.

Rev. Cudjoe further highlighted God’s transformative power, stating,

The one you think is wicked can be softened and changed.

Reaffirming his stance, Rev. Cudjoe stressed that a Muslim can indeed be president of Ghana, pointing out that leadership is not defined by one’s religion but by their ability to lead the people.

The pastor also condemned the tribal politics being used against Dr. Bawumia, particularly the opposition rooted in his Muslim identity. He urged Ghanaians to rise above tribal and religious divides and focus on unity and inclusivity.

Rev. Cudjoe called on the nation to recognize that leadership should be about capability and vision, not tribal or religious backgrounds.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, has faced criticism and opposition due to his Muslim faith, with some accusing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and certain pastors of fueling tribal politics against him.
