AHIAGBAH DENIEWS OHENE NTOW’S ALLEGATIONS AGAINST DR. BAWUMIA AND THE GOVERNMENT

The claims made against Dr Mahamudu Bawumia by Nana Ohene Ntow, a former General Secretary of the NPP who is now an advisor to Independent Presidential Candidate Alan Kyerematen, have been dismissed by Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

During an appearance on Peace FM’s Kokroko show, Nana Ohene Ntow stated that major institutions under this government are more corrupt than previous administrations.

However, Mr Ahiagbah considers this comment to be subjective and not conclusive, as the law ultimately determines matters of corruption.

Mr Ahiagbah also acknowledges Nana Ohene Ntow’s suggestion that digitalization is not the entire economy, but he points out that digitalization is widely recognized as a significant driver of economic growth and prosperity in today’s world.

In a post on his X platform, Mr Ahiagbah emphasizes that Dr. Bawumia’s competence and ability to effectively manage Ghana’s economy as president remain unquestioned, contrary to the comments made by Nana Ohene Ntow.

The current economic challenges, which may have influenced Nana Ohene Ntow’s remarks, are primarily due to external factors such as COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine War and do not accurately reflect Bawumia’s capabilities. 2. It would be beneficial for Nana Ohene-Ntow to revisit economic data from 2017, 2018, and 2019, when the economy was growing at an average of 7% before the impact of COVID-19.

This would provide a more accurate assessment of the current government’s economic management record. 3. Nana Ohene Ntow’s assertion that major institutions under this government are more corrupt than previous administrations is subjective. Allegations of corruption are not conclusive, as the law has the final say in such matters.

Nana Ohene Ntow’s suggestion that digitalization is not the entire economy can be pardoned. However, it is widely recognized that digitalization is a significant driver of economic growth and prosperity today. 5. Nana Ohene-Ntow supports Alan Kyerematen, whom we respect and would not want to speak roughly about his candidacy or campaign.
