Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, has unveiled an ambitious plan to transition Ghana to solar energy to reduce power costs. Addressing the clergy in the Upper East Region, Dr. Bawumia outlined his vision for a sustainable energy future.
The next major objective for me is to bring down the cost of power, electricity. And how am I going to do it? I want to do it by shifting Ghana away from fuel-generated power to solar-generated power. I want us to move from fuel to solar
Emphasizing the economic and environmental benefits of solar energy, Dr. Bawumia added, highlighting the potential for solar energy to provide a sustainable and self-sufficient power source for Ghana.
Solar is given to us by God for free. If we have to buy fuel we need foreign exchange and then we have to import. But solar we can harness it and generate power.
His proposal aims to reduce Ghana’s dependency on imported fuels, cut energy costs, and harness the country’s abundant solar resources.
As the presidential campaign heats up, Dr. Bawumia’s bold plan for solar energy highlights his commitment to innovative solutions for Ghana’s energy challenges.
