Dr. Gideon Boako, Spokesperson for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has confidently stated that the Vice President is poised to make history by leading the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to victory in the 2024 general elections, breaking the longstanding eight-year power rotation between Ghana’s two major political parties.
Speaking to supporters in Duayaw-Nkwanta after the submission of nomination forms to the Electoral Commission, Dr. Boako stressed that the NPP’s vision of “breaking the eight” would be achieved through a combination of hard work and divine intervention. He emphasized that Dr. Bawumia’s leadership would extend the NPP’s governance beyond the typical two-term limit.
Dr. Boako praised the NPP’s track record, highlighting that it has consistently delivered on its promises, with Dr. Bawumia playing a key role in driving exceptional leadership. He noted that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has even acknowledged Dr. Bawumia’s success, which is why they frequently target his integrity with baseless attacks.
He contrasted the leadership of Dr. Bawumia with that of the NDC’s flagbearer, former President John Mahama, suggesting that while Mahama’s time as Vice President was marked by failure, Dr. Bawumia has demonstrated strong leadership, positioning him as the right candidate to make history for the NPP.
Dr. Boako also pointed out that the 2024 elections represent a critical decision between progress and stagnation, with Dr. Bawumia standing as the leader who symbolizes progress and visionary leadership.
Additionally, he emphasized the unity within the NPP as a crucial advantage ahead of the elections, particularly following the strong backing from figures like Kennedy Agyapong, who have rallied behind Dr. Bawumia after one of the party’s most competitive flagbearer races.
This unity, according to Dr. Boako, is a testament to the efforts of the party’s leadership and grassroots members, bolstering their chances of retaining power in 2024.
The party’s unity is a beacon of hope, and with the support of all members, we are confident that we will break the eight-year cycle,
Dr. Boako stated.
