DR. MAHAMUDU BAWUMIA: A MAN FOR THIS SPECIFIC TIME

And who can say for certain that you have not been placed in your current position for such a time as this? The story of Esther and Mordecai holds great significance in the Bible for various reasons. It offers numerous valuable lessons, but at this moment, I would like to focus on a particular aspect that struck me while reflecting on Esther 4:14.

This passage imparts a profound spiritual lesson – that each of us is born with a specific purpose, intricately woven into specific moments in time. It is crucial for us to be aware of this purpose and diligently strive to fulfill it. Furthermore, it emphasizes that when we find ourselves in positions of power or influence, it is not solely for our personal gain, but rather for a greater and nobler purpose that extends beyond ourselves – a utilitarian objective that benefits all.

Another thought that resonated with me upon contemplating this passage is the significance of moments, times, and seasons. It is vital to not only recognize the importance of these moments and times but also to effectively respond to them with the necessary resources, skills, and personalities. This led me to ponder the current state of our nation, continent, and the global community as a whole, and what defines the modern world.

The word that came to mind was “technology.” Undoubtedly, we exist in an era driven by technology, where high-speed internet and digital applications have become dominant features of our daily lives. I recalled the numerous conferences I have attended and the extensive materials I have read, all of which unequivocally emphasized that technological innovation would be a decisive factor in Africa’s journey towards significant progress.

I recall attending professional and academic conferences where professionals, technocrats, and experts emphasized the importance of Africa’s rapid progress towards integration, prioritizing technological adoption, and embracing digitalization as a significant national endeavor and cultural shift.

I have vivid memories of hearing captivating narratives about global change and transformation, particularly in sectors such as food production, industrialization, healthcare, and education, all of which have been greatly influenced by technology. In the realm of agriculture, I distinctly remember reading about how the adoption of new technologies and digital systems not only opened up new markets but also revolutionized the way food is cultivated, manufactured, and ultimately distributed.

This technological advancement played a pivotal role in addressing poverty and alleviating hunger. Furthermore, I recall reading about how digitization has fostered greater citizen participation, enhanced democracy, and ensured efficient delivery of public services. This has been particularly evident in the significant transformation of the justice delivery system and the ongoing efforts to combat corruption.

I have vivid memories of listening to the President of Kenya, the highly inspiring and forward-thinking Willam Samoi Ruto, as he spoke passionately about the impact of digital policies on Africa’s ambition to become a leading global trade powerhouse. This momentous occasion took place at Uhuru Gardens.

President Ruto, who is widely respected and revered in Africa, once emphasized the crucial role of agricultural innovation and technology in reducing poverty. Furthermore, President Ruto has consistently emphasized the potential of innovation to introduce economies to the digital economy and enhance intra-Africa trade, thereby promoting regional integration. His Excellency William Ruto has also praised the merits of a digital identity platform, a concept that Dr. Bawumia has successfully implemented in Ghana through the Ghana card.

This initiative has brought numerous benefits, including the establishment of a reliable and valuable database system for effective planning, policy-making, and the growth and development of the private sector.

Many experts have highlighted the digital sphere as a key platform for job opportunities for the youth in Africa, stressing the vast potential for businesses and employment in today’s technological age. The advancement of digitization is set to promote inclusive democracy by allowing all Ghanaians to engage in national discussions.

Reflecting on our nation’s journey, it is evident that we are now in a digital-focused era driven by technology and innovation. In this context, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerges as a prominent figure advocating for digitalization in Ghana, serving as a dedicated voice for progress in this field.

This is an illustration of a man who is rising to the occasion, a man who is perfectly suited for the current era. A man for this specific moment; a moment characterized by widespread technology and digital advancement. Such a moment. Such a man. Such a time. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia: the ideal candidate for this era; the perfect choice for this moment and for this period of digital revolution.

In this digital era, we require a champion of digital transformation. A champion of digitalization for the digital age: Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. A man for this specific time.
