The Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that his main reason for contesting for the office of the presidency is to serve the good people of Ghana.
Dr. Bawumia commenced a two-day campaign tour in the Western Region, seeking votes ahead of the 2024 general elections in December. He paid a courtesy call to the members of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, in Sekondi. During the meeting, he sought the blessings of the chiefs and expressed his desire to listen to the needs and concerns of the people.
He emphasized that his humble background and experiences have driven him to prioritize the needs of the poor, excluded, and vulnerable in society.

Dr. Bawumia believes he has the ideas and a solid track record to change this country if elected president. He mentioned that he has championed various projects including the Digitalization agenda which most people address him as Mr. Digital.
During his tour, He also met with fisher folks at the European Town Fishing Harbor in Sekondi and commissioned the first phase of the Appiatse community reconstruction in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality.
Dr. Bawumia’s tour, which began on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, and ended on Thursday, May 2, 2024, the campaign tour is part of Dr. Bawumia’s efforts to engage and solicit votes and share his vision for Ghana’s development ahead of the 2024 elections.
