NPP PLANS TO REWARD FAITH-BASED GROUPS FOR ADVANCING NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT -NAPO

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has declared that the ticket led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will endorse and support faith-based organizations that contribute to national development if elected in the December elections.

Speaking at the annual church conference and unveiling of a new constitution of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana on Sunday, July 14, 2024, Dr. Prempeh announced that faith-based organizations contributing significantly to national development would receive additional incentives under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership if the NPP wins the 2024 general elections.

Dr. Bawumia’s vision includes providing additional incentives to faith-based organizations that meet specific thresholds in their contributions to national development, enhancing their role as development partners,

he emphasized. Dr. Prempeh, a former Minister of Education, highlighted that these incentives aim to support organizations like the Kristo Asafo Mission, which complement government efforts in education, healthcare, and economic empowerment. He underscored that these measures would help expand their impact and promote sustainable development.

Moreover, he stressed that fostering collaboration between the government and faith-based organizations would promote mutual progress and collective prosperity.

Dr. Prempeh, known as NAPO in political circles, urged the church to strengthen its partnerships with other religious bodies to advance national development, emphasizing that such collaboration would sustain Ghana’s long-standing peace.

Reflecting on personal experiences growing up in Kumasi’s Ashanti New Town and Allah Bar enclave during the 1970s and 1980s, Dr. Prempeh highlighted the peaceful coexistence and shared celebrations between Christians and Muslims. He noted that fostering religious tolerance is crucial for Ghana’s unity and progress.

Dr. Prempeh praised Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to inter-faith dialogue, citing his regular engagements with churches as a testament to his dedication to promoting peace and unity across religious divides. He encouraged continued efforts to strengthen dialogue among religious communities to safeguard Ghana’s peace and stability.
