REJECT NDC FOR DISRESPECTING OUR TRADITIONAL LEADERS AND RELIGIOUS FIGURES – NAPO TO GHANAIANS

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama for referring to clergy, civil society organizations, and traditional leaders as “hypocrites” for their prayers for the NPP and its leaders.

During a campaign rally in the Ofoase Juaben Constituency, he expressed his disapproval of Mahama’s comments, arguing that such remarks diminish the respect associated with the office he once held.

In another segment of the NPP campaign tour, Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasized the vital contributions of traditional and religious leaders in maintaining Ghana’s unity and moral integrity.

He characterized these figures as essential to promoting national cohesion and development, advocating for the respect they deserve. In response to Mahama’s derogatory statements, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, commonly known as “NAPO,” encouraged traditional leaders, Imams, and clergy to refrain from supporting John Dramani Mahama in the forthcoming elections.

He took the opportunity to highlight the accomplishments of the NPP, claiming that they have surpassed the performance of the previous government and asserting that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration has an unparalleled record in all sectors.

We will continue to clearly communicate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s plans to further improve the lives of the people with bold solutions.

Additionally, he emphasized that the NPP has conveyed their accomplishments without resorting to insults or derogatory remarks, thereby encouraging the electorate to support them in the upcoming elections on December 7.

He further noted that the leadership of his party demonstrates humility and respect towards both religious and traditional leaders, in contrast to former President Mahama and the NDC. Dr. Opoku Prempeh, during his tour, also visited Kumawu and Oyoko within the Kumawu Constituency, engaging with local Chiefs, religious leaders, and students from the communities.

During his visit, the Kumawumanhene, Barima Sarfo Tweneboah Kodua, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the appointment of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh as the Running Mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer.

The Chief commended the NPP for their various developmental initiatives in the region, highlighting projects such as a state-of-the-art hospital and improved road infrastructure. Also present at the event was the Member of Parliament for Kumawu, Hon. Ernest Yaw Kumi, who expressed gratitude to the Chiefs for their warm welcome and sought their prayers to assist him in fulfilling his responsibilities effectively.
