Addressing the media during the “Bawumia Host the Media” event at Movenpick Hotel in Accra, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the pressing issue of poorly maintained pitches, which has been a concern for players and coaches alike. He recalled a recent meeting with the Black Stars in Kumasi, where the team emphasized the need for international-standard pitches.<\/p>\n

The pitches we currently have are difficult to play on, and there is a clear need for pitches that meet international standards<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In response to these concerns, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of professional management and maintenance of sports facilities. He acknowledged that while new pitches are often built, they suffer from a lack of proper upkeep.<\/p>\n

We need to train people and bring in those with the right knowledge to ensure these facilities are well-maintained<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Dr. Bawumia also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding sports infrastructure, particularly in the newly created regions. He mentioned that the administration had committed to building five additional stadia as far back as 2019 and has already made significant progress with multi-purpose sports stadia across the country.<\/p>\n
