The campaign representative for Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has addressed Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), regarding his decision to campaign in Accra on Tuesday, August 27.
This decision was made with the knowledge that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia had conducted his campaign in Accra the previous day, August 26.
Miracles Aboagye inquired whether Mr. Mahama’s presence in Accra today was an attempt to overshadow the campaign efforts of Bawumia from the day before.
These remarks were made in light of Mr. Mahama’s assertion that Dr. Bawumia’s media engagement on Sunday, August 25, which occurred just after the NDC unveiled their manifesto, was intended to mislead the public.
Mr. Mahama contended that the media interaction was designed to distract Ghanaians from the NDC’s manifesto. He also noted that Dr. Bawumia’s performance during the media session revealed a “sudden stammering posture,” which he interpreted as a sign of being unprepared.
This statement was delivered on the first day of Mr. Mahama’s two-day campaign in Ada, part of his Greater Accra Regional campaign activities on Tuesday, August 27.
Just yesterday the Cedi crossed the 16 Cedi to one dollar barrier. When you do something with a devious intention it backfires on you, we announced we were going to launch our manifesto on the 24th of August, immediately our opponents announced that they were going to do a media encounter on the 25th of August, the very next day.
The intention for doing that media encounter the next day after we had announced our manifesto was to get the attention of Ghanaians from the NDC manifesto, that was the main reason that they decided to do a media encounter the very next day after we launched our manifesto.
When you do something with devious intentions, it backfires on you. You know how to tell if people are lying, if there are people who are smooth talkers who can speak like machine guns, the time when they become stammerers you know they are lying. Somebody who has been speaking ‘ratatatata’ like AK 47 suddenly, at a media encounter, starts stammering.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Miracles Aboagye expressed.
Very Petty, If your Manifesto is empty, it’s empty. No one needs to do anything to cover up. If it’s a serious manifesto, Ghanaians would discuss it even for years. Who takes a Manifesto that says it will make “night club” 24hours serious. Who? Who takes a Manifesto that says it will let people wake up to go queue at 2am for their passports serious? Who takes a Manifesto that says it will have 3 Chief Directors at a Ministry to run 3shifts serious?
When you announced to launch your manifesto a week after we launch ours? Was it your thinking to do that to cover ours? You have been an opposition leader for 8years, been elected for over a year and half before Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was elected. Yet you waited for him to announce the date for his Manifesto launch and then immediately, you announce to hold yours exactly 6days after his launch. Was it your idea to cover his launch.
Of course we knew it was to copy his Manifesto but now we know the second strategy was to cover his manifesto launch. You decided to campaign in Accra today, knowing very well Dr. Bawumia was campaigning in Accra yesterday. Are you in Accra today to cover his campaign he did yesterday? Is that your thinking?
Instead of using the time you have to explain your dead ideas, you are here wailing about something of no substance. Let’s Stop being petty and get serious.
