ELECTION 2024: BAWUMIA VOWS TO CUT ELECTRICITY BILLS BY 50%.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has committed to a 50% reduction in electricity tariffs if elected president in the 2024 general elections. He stated that this reduction would be made possible by transitioning the nation’s energy reliance toward solar power.

Speaking at the Church of Pentecost in Teshie, Dr. Bawumia highlighted that the current dependence on fossil fuels and hydropower has caused volatile electricity costs. To address this, his government would prioritize large-scale solar energy projects across Ghana.

I want Ghana to make a bold shift from dependence on oil and gas to using solar power. The sun provides free energy, and we need to take advantage of it. We plan to increase solar power generation by 2000MW, which will reduce electricity bills by 50%,

Dr. Bawumia also pledged to boost local solar panel production by setting up factories in Ghana, avoiding the need for imports. This initiative received strong applause from the audience.

As the 2024 elections approach, Dr. Bawumia continues to travel across the country to deliver his campaign message and win the electorate’s support.
