Communications Team Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Kwadwo Agyei Yeboah popularly known as Nana Kay, has emphasized the significant impact of digitization on Ghana’s development, following years of investment in the sector by the current administration.
Nana Kay, echoing the sentiments, accentuated the importance of modernizing Ghana’s economy through digitization since the NPP assumed office in 2017, highlighting the impressive outcomes achieved so far. He further stated that digitalization is crucial for Ghana’s future, as it will undoubtedly shape the community’s future while complementing the government’s mission to digitize all sectors of the economy.
When we took office, our goal was to rapidly transform our economy by leveraging technological innovation as a means to accelerate the development process, overcome existing challenges, and enhance both economic and public sector governance. That’s why digitalization has been a major focus area for our government – to establish a new system through digital transformation.
Since 2017, Ghana’s digitization has successfully implemented a national biometric system, real estate address system, mobile money interoperability for all telephone networks and financial institutions, government services such as the DVLA, passport offices, NHIS services, and port operations, as well as through wireless Human-machine delivery of essential medicines.
He emphasized the beneficial effects of these initiatives on governance and their role in streamlining processes for the people of Ghana.
It is noteworthy that our investments in the digitalization of the economy are yielding incredible results. Our focus on digitization revolves around building efficient digital platforms for government operations and promoting financial inclusion.
He emphasized that the government’s strategy to enhance the provision of public services involves reducing human interaction.
