President Akufo-Addo has confirmed that his administration has successfully fulfilled 80% of the promises outlined in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto.
During his tour of the Western North Region on Tuesday, November 5, the President reviewed the government’s accomplishments and reiterated his commitment to continuing to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.
While acknowledging that not every promise has been fully delivered, President Akufo-Addo assured the public that the majority of the goals set in the manifesto have been achieved.
He reassured the people of Western North that his government remains steadfast in its efforts to advance the nation’s development, despite facing various challenges.
On the government’s flagship Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, the President emphasized its profound impact on education in Ghana. Since its launch in 2017, more than 5.7 million students have benefitted from the Free SHS programme, providing educational access to many who were previously unable to afford it. He described this achievement as one of the key milestones of his presidency.
The President wrapped up his speech by expressing sincere gratitude to the people of the Western North Region for their steadfast support throughout his time in office.
He recognized the crucial role their backing has played in helping his administration accomplish its objectives and vowed to keep working toward fulfilling the remaining promises to the nation.
I wouldn’t stand before you and say I have delivered on all my promises. That will not be truthful but I can confidently say that 80% of our manifesto promises, I have achieved that. In the areas of education, health, road infrastructure, industrial transformation, Agriculture, and cocoa. In the first place, before I became the president, every year our children after graduating from the Junior High level, over 100,000 were not able to continue to SHS even if when they passed, because of the financial challenges of their parents, they were unable to proceed
So ten years – which means that over 1,000,000 kids are unable to proceed in their educational transition but today because of the Free SHS, which started in 2017, to date the changes that have come to our educational system are dramatic
