I AM ENCOURAGED BY GUTA’S POSITIVE RESPONSE TO MY POLICY PROPOSAL – DR. BAWUMIA

Vice President and Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has indicated that he motivated by the positive response to his policy proposal by the members of Ghana Union of Traders’ Association (GUTA).
In a post on his official Facebook account, Dr. Bawumia emphasized on how motivated he was with regards to the responses from the productive engagement he had with the members of GUTA , on the various policy he has for them. He revealed that these policies will create and strengthen a conducive environment for business to grow.
I am encouraged by GUTA’s positive reaction to my policy proposals, especially the tax amnesty and flat tax and container rates proposals, which are aimed at creating a friendly environment for businesses to thrive.
He indicated that tax policies like the Tax Amnesty and the Flat Rate Tax will create a business friendly environment and also establish consistency which will result in the eradication of smuggling. He noted that these tax policies are paradigm shifters and will ensure growth and stability in the business environment.
I also explained to GUTA in detail, my proposed business-friendly tax reforms, including the game-changing tax amnesty and flat tax rates for businesses and individuals, flat-rate duties on containers, as well as benchmarking our import duties with Togo, to ensure uniformity and also eliminate smuggling.
Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude to GUTA and also emphasized on the fact that the positive feedbacks and concerns of the association are prominent and his government will make sure to address them and also make certain these tax policies will be implemented to establish a conducive atmosphere to operate their businesses. He added that with unity, Ghana can become one of the best market friendly countries in the world.
I held fruitful interaction with members of the Ghana Union of Traders’ Association (GUTA), who embraced my proposed tax reforms, expressed some of their business concerns to me, and also made some insightful suggestions for consideration by my government in 2025, God willing. I am as well grateful to the leadership and members of GUTA, for the open, frank and fruitful engagement. Together, we shall make Ghana one of the most business-friendly countries in the world. It is possible!!!
