Vice President and Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged all Muslims across the length and breadth of the country to look beyond Ramadan in demonstrating peace, unity and love towards humanity.

Speaking at the Kumasi Central Mosque during the Eid Celebration, Dr. Bawumia noted that, as a religious people, there is the need to look beyond the fasting period and continue to spread love, unity and peace towards one another as demonstrated by the Holy Prophet Mohammed.

Beyond the Holy Month of Ramadan, let us all thrive to make every man and every moment special by being kind, to divinity, demonstrating peace, love, unity in accordance with the duties of Islam and the teachings of the prophet Mohammed.

He stressed on the significance of peace and unity for one another as it is the basis for humanity, and it tends to promotes equality. He emphasized on the need to appreciate and value peace and unity by putting mechanisms in place to sustain them.

I always retreat the need for peace, tolerance and unity amongst our diverse community because of its incalculable value to human existence and nation building. It is important we continue to remind ourselves of the need to uphold them.

Dr. Bawumia added that, the Holy Book preaches about the important of togetherness, appreciation, and charity which tends to promote peaceful co-existence. Highlighting the importance of peace, he asserted that it is eminent to hold onto peace irrespective of differences in views and opinions and push to defending it in the midst of adversity.

It is for nothing that the Holy Quran commonly admonishes us to uphold peace, respect and tolerance to strengthen unity in diverse race and societies of the world. For us in Ghana, our diversity is more ten in our background and beliefs and we have remarkably held firmly together as one people over the years in spite of the threat and bigotry of some overzealous individuals and groups.
