DR. BAWUMIA TO CHAIR THE EU-GHANA ANNUAL PARTNERSHIP DIALOGUE

The European Union (EU) delegation to Ghana has initiated its yearly celebration of ‘Europe Month’ with a primary emphasis on empowering youth and enhancing skills development.

As a crucial development collaborator with the Ghanaian government, this significant occasion on the EU’s schedule is packed with numerous initiatives aimed at fostering skills enhancement and empowering the youth. The celebration is slated to commence on the 9th of May 2024 and is well-designed to highlight the importance of youth and skills development in the European Union-Ghana partnership.

The Annual Partnership Dialogue between the European Union (EU) and the government is scheduled to occur on May 6th. The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will be spearheading this dialogue. It will serve as a platform for the ambassadors of EU member states residing in Ghana to convene with representatives from different government institutions, including the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

The dialogue will aids in evaluating the advancements achieved in areas such as trade, security, and sustainable development, with the aim of further strengthening the Ghana-EU relations in the forthcoming years.

On 4th May 2024, the Bukom Boxing Arena will host a boxing exhibition called “Diplo-Rumble,” featuring a headline fight between EU Ambassador, Irchad Razaaly, and Ghanaian boxing legend, Azumah Nelson. This event is one of the key activities scheduled for that day. This occasion will exhibit the boxing skills of youthful athletes in Bukom, simultaneously fostering youth empowerment through sports.

The annual Europe Day Reception, which took place on 9th May at the EU Ambassador’s Residence, continues to be one of the most significant diplomatic gatherings in Accra. This year’s event will highlight the strong EU-Ghana relations through an evening filled with top-notch entertainment and music performances.

Distinguished senior ministers and officials, members of the diplomatic corps in Accra, traditional leaders, development partners, private sector representatives, civil society, and other important stakeholders will be in attendance.

A scholarship fair will feature a wide range of exciting scholarship programs offered by European universities. This presents a wonderful opportunity for ambitious Ghanaian students to explore various options for pursuing higher education in Europe.

The networking reception on 24th May will mark the end of this year’s commemoration, serving as a celebration of the bilateral partnership between the EU and Ghana in the field of education and skills. The EU-Ghana pact for skills program is a significant agreement that symbolizes the joint efforts of the European Union and Ghana to invest in the future of Ghanaian youth, as stated by EU Ambassador.
