VEEP BAWUMIA HONORS GHANAIAN WORKERS ON MAY DAY

In a heartfelt tribute to the nation’s workforce, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has extended his warm wishes to all workers across Ghana in celebration of International Workers’ Day, also known as May Day. Dr. Bawumia took to social media to express his admiration and gratitude, recognizing workers as the “backbone of Ghana’s development.”

In his message, Dr. Bawumia wrote,

“You are the backbone of Ghana’s development. We celebrate your commitment and dedication.”

His post quickly gained traction, reflecting a broad appreciation for the hardworking people who propel the country’s economy forward.

May Day, observed annually on May 1st, is a day set aside globally to honor the contributions of workers. In Ghana, the day is marked with parades, speeches, and events that highlight the importance of labor rights and celebrate the achievements of workers in all sectors.

Dr. Bawumia’s acknowledgment of the pivotal role workers play in national development underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing labor policies and supporting workforce development, including the over 1.2 million jobs created under the Nana Addo – Bawumia government.

Labor unions and worker groups have responded positively to Dr. Bawumia’s message, seeing it as a reaffirmation of the government’s recognition of their invaluable service and a signal towards ongoing dialogue between labor representatives and the government to address critical issues facing workers today.
