The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, stated that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s policy proposal for the fisheries sector will improve the livelihoods of fishermen nationwide.
Mr Ahiagbah asserts that the Vice President’s vision will result in a substantial transformation for their community, presenting them with fresh prospects and an improved outlook.
On his X platform, he expressed his belief that Bawumia’s commitment to implementing policies that enhance and optimize their fishing resources, both from the sea and inland, as well as in aquaculture, will pave the way for a significant change in the lives of his fellow community members. This change will not only open up new avenues for them but also promise a brighter future ahead.
I am from a fishing community; I believe that Bawumia’s promise to implement policies to promote and maximize our fishery resources from the sea, inland, and aquaculture will bring about a significant change for my people, offering them new opportunities and a better future.
His vision is a game-changer for us, and I am excited to see how it will unfold. Let’s vote for Bawumia and the NPP on December 7th to ensure the implementation of this policy, which will benefit fishing communities and Ghanaians. Your vote will make it possible.
The Vice President emphasized this during a speech to fishermen in the Western Region, as part of his continuous tour across the country. He highlighted that the fisheries sector has the potential to significantly boost Ghana’s economy.
Dr. Bawumia, on the other hand, points out that supply chain inefficiencies in the distribution of Premix Fuel and insufficient cold storage facilities are significant obstacles to the sector. Additionally, he highlighted illegal and unreported fishing, as well as limited access to credit and financial services, as challenges encountered by the industry.
