Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has extended his support to a young girl, aged six, who is experiencing severe to profound hearing loss in both ears.
To assist her, Dr. Bawumia has generously provided GH¢20,000 to enable her to obtain a hearing aid. It has been discovered that the little girl has been coping with this condition for the past two years, which has had a detrimental impact on her education.
The Audiology Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra has issued a document, signed by the Principal Audiologist, Joseph Omane Boateng, stating that the young girl underwent a recent examination at the facility.
As per the document, it has been determined that the girl would benefit from a hearing aid to enhance her hearing abilities and facilitate effective communication. Since the facility is unable to provide the device, an invoice has been issued to the girl’s parents for the purchase of the hearing aid from a supplier.
In an interview with DAILY GUIDE, Alhaji Labib Imam Ali, the Western Regional Nasara Coordinator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), disclosed that the parents of the girl were facing challenges in raising funds for the hearing aid. However, during his recent visit to the Western Region, the Vice President stepped in and contributed GH¢20,000 towards the purchase of the hearing aid.
He mentioned that this was not the first time Dr. Bawumia had extended support to individuals from Zongo communities in the region. Alhaji Labib Imam Ali also highlighted that previously, the Vice President had donated $40,000 to assist a Deputy Chief Imam in the Western Region who was undergoing treatment for kidney failure abroad.
The donation was made by Andrew Egyapa Mercer, the Member of Parliament for Sekondi, on behalf of the Vice President. Mercer highlighted that Dr. Bawumia is recognized for his advocacy for the less fortunate. He expressed the Vice President’s desire for the funds to be utilized as originally intended.
We all know the Vice President is known for giving. He has love for humanity and consistently over the years has supported many underprivileged, it is in his nature to make such gestures.
As part of his first round campaign tour, he visited the Western Region and through that, he was informed about the predicament of the six-year-old girl. Being a listening Vice President, he sent me as the MP for the area to support the young girl with the amount to purchase the hearing aid.
The father of the little girl, Haruna Ousman, was grateful to the Vice President for the support, adding,
I pray that Allah will continue to bless the Vice President and make him victorious in the upcoming presidential election.
