Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), emphasized that Ghana will maintain a significant role in shaping regional and international politics if he assumes the presidency.

Dr. Bawumia underscored Ghana’s reputation as a model of democracy and good governance in Africa, advocating for smooth transitions of power, peaceful elections, and conflict resolution.
He stressed the importance of collaborating with regional bodies like the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States to bolster these endeavors.

In relation to Africa’s economic liberation, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of African countries redefining their path of progress according to their own conditions. He emphasized the utilization of technology and innovation to foster sustainable development.
Dr. Bawumia also underscored the potential of Africa’s rapidly growing population to stimulate economic expansion and exert cultural influence worldwide.
The greatest threat to the AfCFTA is incomplete or inadequate implementation,” Bawumia cautioned. “For Africans to derive maximum benefits from it without further delay, it is suggested that state parties of it should go beyond their ratifications and the limited trading under the Guided Trade Initiative.
He emphasized the significance of addressing crucial development matters in trade, investment, and economic policy. He stressed the importance of promoting trade within Africa, attracting foreign investments, and enhancing the business environment for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
He underscored the necessity for policy coherence, transparency, and good governance to foster sustainable development. Regarding the issue of multiple currencies in Africa, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the need for increased integration and the utilization of regional payment systems.
