Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga II, the Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area and the president of the North East Regional House Chiefs, expressed his hope for Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia to assume the presidency in the forthcoming general elections scheduled for December.
Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga II was speaking when the vice-president and his entourage paid a courtesy call on him in his Palace in Nalerigu on Monday (13 May 2024) as part of his [Bawumia’s] campaign tour of the North East Region.
I pray to God, the gods, and my throne to him (Bawumia) that God should give him the chance. May God give him the presidential slot. May God give him good luck.
We are not destroying anyone. May God grant him his wishes for him to turn and support me.
Additionally, religious leaders including the clergy and Imams in the area offered prayers for the vice-president to succeed as the next president of Ghana following his consultation with them in Nalerigu.
