Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the Vice President, made a special trip to visit the Black Stars on Monday morning, providing them with words of encouragement ahead of their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic (CAR) in Kumasi.
Later in the evening, the Black Stars will go head-to-head with CAR, and a victory could potentially propel them to the top of their group after this month’s qualifiers. Ghana’s campaign got off to a mixed start, with a win against Madagascar but a loss to Comoros.
However, they revived their chances by staging a remarkable 2-1 comeback win against Mali in Bamako last Thursday.
This triumph has significantly boosted the team’s morale, making the Black Stars the favorites to seize control of the group with a victory over the Central African Republic.
As part of his campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, Vice President Bawumia paid a visit to the team at their hotel in Kumasi. It was reported that he generously donated GHS500,000 to motivate them for the upcoming home game.
Accompanying the Vice President during his visit to the team’s hotel were the Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, and GFA President Kurt Okraku. The match against the Central African Republic is scheduled to commence at 7 pm local time.
