In a heartwarming gesture, Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has generously donated One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 100,000) to support the ailing veteran gospel musician, Yaw Sarpong.
During his campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Bawumia, along with his entourage, took the opportunity to visit Yaw Sarpong, who has been unwell for some time. This visit underscores Dr. Bawumia’s deep commitment to the welfare of Ghanaians and his genuine concern for the well-being of the country’s cultural icons.
The initiative was sparked by Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi. Upon learning about Yaw Sarpong’s illness from Nicholas Omane Acheampong, Chairman Wontumi informed Dr. Bawumia immediately upon his arrival in Kumasi.
Demonstrating his characteristic compassion and leadership, Dr. Bawumia surprised the beloved gospel musician with a personal visit and the substantial financial support of GHS 100,000. This act of kindness not only highlights Dr. Bawumia’s empathy but also his dedication to uplifting and supporting the Ghanaian community, especially those who have significantly contributed to the nation’s rich cultural heritage.
