EVERY STUDENT WILL BE INCLUDED IN ONE SCHOOL ONE TABLET INIATIVE – DR. BAWUMIA

The distribution of tablet computers to senior high school students in the region was officially launched by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, during a brief ceremony in Kumasi on Wednesday.

He guaranteed that each student would be provided with a tablet to enhance their learning experience. The government’s One Student One Tablet Programme, overseen by the Ministry of Education, will offer free tablets to students in public senior high schools.

This program, which aims to promote ICT-aided teaching and learning, will benefit around 1.2 million students. President Nana Akufo-Addo initially introduced this initiative earlier this year in Accra. Additionally, the Ghana Smart Schools Project was launched by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on March 25th in Accra.

This project aims to transform existing facilities in public senior high schools into Smart Schools, with new structures being constructed as needed.

High school students will be given free tablets to support their learning as part of this project. Furthermore, teachers and staff of the Ghana Education Service will receive free laptops to assist in their research, teaching, and learning activities.

Both the laptops and tablets will come preloaded with educational materials, including textbooks. In addition to this, the Vice President inaugurated a dedicated school block at Opoku Ware School, which was named after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The Nana Akufo-Addo Smart Block is equipped with classrooms that feature digital devices like smart boards, computers, and internet connectivity.

Opoku Ware School has been officially recognized as the inaugural Smart School in Ghana, according to the Ministry of Education. During the ceremony, the Vice President highlighted the government’s dedication to creating a technologically advanced atmosphere for education in senior high schools nationwide.

He further elaborated on the recent initiatives aimed at digitally transforming the school environment, with the ultimate goal of preparing students to actively engage in the fourth industrial revolution. Vice President Bawumia, who is also the Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party in the upcoming general elections, deemed the event as a momentous occasion.

Ghana is among the few countries in the world where the government has supplied students with tablet computers to ensure the future does not elude our children.
