DR. BAWUMIA’S RUNNING MATE MUST ADHERE TO THE PRINCIPLES OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS – MIRACLES ABOAGYE

Denis Miracle Aboagye, the Director of Communications and Spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign, underscored the necessity of selecting a running mate who is “politically correct” for the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer.

In an appearance on PM Express on JoyNews, he emphasized the importance of the running mate being able to attract a substantial number of votes and effectively support Dr. Bawumia’s governance agenda once they assume power.

These are the two key or critical ingredients and these two things are what is driving him (Bawumia). As I said, this person must be politically correct.

This simply means that we are going out there to go and look for votes, we need to win before we govern. So this person must be one that will bring in the votes to support all the votes that Dr Bawumia himself will be bringing.

Eventually, when we win the elections based on the votes that we have collectively brought into the polls, we need to govern.

In governance, Dr. Bawumia has articulated several policies and action points for various sectors and he would need a person who would complement his efforts and give him the right support to be able to implement and execute this vision.

In light of these crucial elements, the spokesperson for the Bawumia campaign affirmed that the NPP flagbearer had a clear understanding of whom to choose as a running mate before he decided to run for the flagbearer position.

Mr. Aboagye emphasized that he is simply adhering to the NPP’s regulations, which dictate that the running mate should be nominated in consultation with the National Council, which will then ratify the approval.

But he (Dr Bawumia), as a person, has been clear in his mind who he was nominating, long before he was elected on November 4th during the presidential primaries. What is left now is for the time to be due.

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has emerged as the top choice among party members to be the running mate to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, according to a recent survey conducted by the National Investigative Bureau.

The survey involved 5,116 NPP delegates from across the country, including executives at various levels. Dr Opoku Prempeh received an overwhelming 76.2% of the responses from the polled executives, making him the clear favorite.

Following closely behind was Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education and MP for the Bosomtwe constituency, who garnered 10.16% of the support.

Other notable individuals being considered for the role include Apostle Opoku Onyinah, former Chairman of the Pentecost Church-Ghana, and Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of Agriculture and MP for Abetifi Constituency.

The survey also highlighted a strong consensus among the delegates that the running mate should be selected from the Ashanti Region, adding to the challenge faced by Dr Bawumia in making his decision.
