Divine Otoo Agorhom, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), expresses strong conviction in his party’s triumph in the upcoming December elections.
He credits this unwavering optimism to the choice of John Mahama as the flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which he perceives as a notable misjudgment.
According to him, the NDC’s initial confidence has dwindled ever since the NPP’s campaign commenced, garnering favorable responses from the Ghanaian populace. He highlights that the economic challenges have provided the opposition NDC with a deceptive sense of hope.
Some six months ago, the posture of the NDC demonstrated a party seeing itself as having won the elections and were only waiting for time.
Nevertheless, he disclosed that the situation changed once the NPP presidential candidate launched his campaign, garnering a positive response from the people of Ghana, and prompting the NDC to make adjustments to their strategies.
The very day the NDC elected His Excellency John Mahama, I said, ‘Oh’, we’ll win these elections.
He referred to Mr. Mahama as a walkover and believes it is a significant advantage for the NPP in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Oh yeah yeah yeah, if you ask me why, I’ll tell you. This is somebody who has been through it all and you expect that he should understand very well what the Ghanaian psyche is. They’ve had enough of you, you had your opportunity, and you failed, you know, woefully.
They kicked you out of government, you went to stay at home for four years, as it were, repackage yourself, and you came back again. They rejected you again and you think that Ghanaians for whatever reason will admit you this time?
Mr. Agorhom recognized the difficult economic circumstances, yet stressed the NPP’s unwavering commitment to effectively navigate the nation away from its present predicament.
