STC Chief Executive Officer, Nana Akomea has definitively confirmed that Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as “NAPO”, will be the Running Mate for the New Patriotic Party.
The decision to select Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming December 7 elections was made public after the Vice President submitted the Minister’s name to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
President Nana Addo is reported to have approved the candidate, but an official announcement will only be made once the National Council gives its approval.
During an interview on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, the host, Kwami Sefa Kayi, questioned Nana Akomea, who serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Bawumia campaign team, about the certainty of NAPO being the Running Mate. Nana Akomea confidently responded with a “yes”.
He mentioned that the party is scheduled to have a National Executives meeting followed by a National Council meeting on Thursday, July 2, 2024, to discuss the selection of Dr. Opoku Prempeh. Despite this, he expressed strong confidence that there would be minimal changes to Dr. Bawumia’s choice.
