Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for the Bawumia campaign team, asserted in a recent interview on Adom TV that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia had selected Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) as his running mate well before the presidential primaries on November 4, 2024.
Miracles emphasized that Napo was a predetermined choice for the NPP presidential candidate, stating,
Dr. Bawumia settled on Dr. Napo as his choice even before the presidential primaries. He took this decision long ago, having already identified Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate.
Miracles described Napo as an essential addition to the NPP ticket for the upcoming December elections, praising his results-oriented approach and dedication to achieving set goals. He clarified misconceptions about Napo’s demeanor, asserting,
Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh’s confidence level, courage, and discipline are often mistaken for arrogance, which is far from the truth.
Miracles underscored Napo’s outstanding leadership in the Ministry of Education, especially in implementing the Free SHS program, which aimed to provide secondary education to all Ghanaian children completing basic schooling. He concluded that Napo possesses the necessary attributes to effectively partner with Dr. Bawumia as the NPP endeavours to win the upcoming elections.
