NPP UNVEIL NAPO AS BAWUMIA’S RUNNING MATE

Excitement and anticipation are running high as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) readies to officially introduce Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, as the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s flagbearer.

The long-awaited event is set to occur on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region – a stronghold of NPP support. Supporters of the party in the region are brimming with enthusiasm for the unveiling ceremony, underscoring the importance of the occasion.

The formal approval of NAPO as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate by the National Council of the NPP on July 5 has received widespread acclaim from senior party members, with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo expressing his confidence in the leadership abilities of the pair ahead of the 2024 general elections.

In a statement, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh expressed his gratitude to Dr. Bawumia for the trust placed in him, promising his unwavering commitment to securing victory for the NPP in the upcoming polls through cooperation with his running mate. Despite some criticisms of NAPO’s perceived arrogance, the NPP has staunchly supported him.

To address concerns, recommendations have been put forth for NAPO to use prepared scripts in public appearances to improve his communication strategies and reduce potential missteps.

With NAPO’s promotion to the running mate position, the Manhyia South parliamentary seat has become vacant, prompting the NPP to initiate the nomination process for the constituency to select a candidate for the next election. The party assured a fair selection process and urged discretion among potential candidates, emphasizing the internal nature of the issue.

As the NPP gears up for the fiercely contested 2024 presidential election, all attention will be on the party’s formidable duo, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and NAPO, as they get ready to compete against the formidable National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket led by former President John Dramani Mahama and Professor Naana J.
