AGYEMAN-DUAH URGES MAHAMA TO CONSIDER THE DEBATE, HIGHLIGHTING ITS POTENTIAL TO SWAY VOTERS

Baffour Aggyemang Duah, a former senior governance advisor at the UN, has suggested that John Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), should consider accepting the challenge to debate his main opponent, Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Dr. Bawumia has accused John Mahama of avoiding a debate, claiming that Mahama fears being exposed for lacking credible ideas or policies.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Friday (12 July), Professor Agyeman-Duah emphasized the importance of debates in assessing candidates and influencing potential voters’ decisions.

“The NDC doesn’t seem to believe that a debate would contribute to their strategy, but I believe it’s a valuable exercise and would encourage them to participate,

“I suspect the NDC may not see the necessity of a debate due to new ways of reaching voters. However, debates have the potential to sway opinions significantly, so I think they should consider accepting the challenge,

Agyeman-Duah added.
