KONOR OF MANYA KROBO BACKS DR. BAWUMIA’S INTEGRATION POLICY

Nene Sakite II, the Konor of Manya Krobo, has praised Vice-President and NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s proposal to integrate traditional leadership into modern governance, hoping the NPP will win the next election to implement this policy.

During a meeting with Dr. Bawumia’s running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, on July 15, 2024, Nene Sakite II emphasized the importance of chieftaincy in maintaining national stability and supporting community development. He noted that traditional rulers are closer to the people than politicians, making the integration of governance with chieftaincy crucial for effective administration.

Nene Sakite II explained that this policy aims to blend traditional authority with democratic principles, leveraging cultural values for sustainable development and inclusive governance. He expressed hope that Dr. Prempeh’s royal background would aid in realizing this vision and urged party members to work hard to secure electoral success.

Dr. Prempeh assured that Dr. Bawumia is committed to this integration, which would enhance the role of traditional leaders in national development.

“I know that, Dr. Bawumia will not renege on his promise. In due course, the role of the chieftaincy institution will change, and traditional leaders will be asked to contribute meaningfully to the development of the nation in the era of Dr. Bawumia as President of Ghana,” he noted.

He highlighted the need for collaboration among government, religious leaders, and the chieftaincy institution to ensure the country’s unity, stability, and progress.
