The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, speaking at the YEA Beneficiaries’ Forum held at the Kumasi Bantama Pentecost Church premises on July 17, 2024, cautioned Ghanaians against being deceived by “unsuccessful” leadership.
In his address, President Akufo-Addo posed a thought-provoking question to the audience: Between an unsuccessful president and a successful vice president, which one do we prefer? He emphasized that he and many others prefer a successful, young vice president who can build upon the achievements of his administration.

The President urged Ghanaians not to make the mistake of entrusting leadership to someone who has demonstrated an inability to lead effectively. He warned that such a leader would likely repeat past failures. Instead, he advocated for giving the opportunity to a proven successful vice president who is capable of advancing and continuing the progress achieved under his leadership.
So I am here to plead with you, don’t make a mistake, don’t let yourselves be deceived.
Akufo-Addo’s remarks were a clear endorsement of Dr. Bawumia as the right successor. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the current vice president and the presidential flagbearer of the NPP, has proven himself as the most effective vice president. His recent tour of the North East Region, which focused on constituency engagement, has garnered significant endorsements from both locals and chiefs, underscoring his strong leadership credentials.
