AKUFO-ADDO WILL OVERSEE THE COMMISSIONING OF 320 NEW HOMES FOR THE POLICE SERVICE

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is scheduled to unveil a 320-unit housing project for the Ghana Police Service. The commissioning will take place on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra.

Initiated in 2018, the housing project consists of seven blocks of two-bedroom apartments and thirteen blocks of three-bedroom apartments, totaling sixteen apartments per block. Alongside the residential units, the project encompasses a multipurpose sports facility, a kindergarten school, and additional auxiliary residential amenities.

In a press release dated Friday, July 19, 2024, issued by Elvis Adjei-Baah, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Works and Housing, the Ministry underscored the project’s significance. “The completion and utilization of this housing project will complement other government housing initiatives aimed at expanding the housing stock for public servants,” the statement affirmed.

The Ministry highlighted the project as a major stride towards improving living conditions for public servants and addressing the country’s housing deficit.

Furthermore, the Ministry emphasized that this initiative represents a crucial move towards alleviating housing challenges in Ghana’s urban centers. “This project will mitigate housing shortages in our expanding cities and ultimately narrow the national housing deficit, currently standing at 1.8 million units,” the release stated.

The new housing units will not only offer essential accommodation for police personnel but also bolster their welfare, thereby enhancing their operational effectiveness.

The commissioning ceremony will be attended by senior government officials, members of the Ghana Police Service, and stakeholders in the housing sector. It is anticipated to mark a significant milestone, underscoring the government’s commitment to meeting the housing needs of its citizens.
