The Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, confidently showcased his impressive record of policy achievements as Vice President.
Speaking to the people of Nandom during his constituency-focused tour, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the significant impact of his tenure, noting that he has spearheaded 33 different policies. In contrast, he challenged former President John Mahama to name any policy he championed as Vice President, a task Mahama has yet to accomplish.
Dr. Bawumia also re-emphasized the need for a public debate to compare their respective records and achievements.
I have initiated and championed 33 different policies as Vice President. I asked John Mahama to point out one policy he championed as Vice President, just one, he cannot. One, he cannot.
Dr. Bawumia demonstrated his confidence by urging Mahama to participate in a public debate. He highlighted that Mahama is avoiding the debate out of fear that his policies will be shown to be ineffective. According to Dr. Bawumia, Mahama’s hesitation is due to his reluctance to reveal weaknesses in his policy record.
So he says he performed better. And I say, if you think you perform better, come and let us debate. Let us debate mano a mano. Man to man. Let the country see who performed better. Come for a debate. Come for a debate.
I will expose the emptiness of his policies. He said he has a 24-hour economy. I say, explain it, he cannot explain it.
Dr. Bawumia’s assertive presentation and challenge to Mahama highlight his strong record and commitment to Ghana’s development. His confident call for a debate aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of his policies and further solidify his standing as a leading figure in Ghana’s political arena.
With many calling for a debate between the two, and Dr. Bawumia throwing a direct challenge, it remains to be seen whether the former President will oblige.
