Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged individuals in positions of power and authority to leverage their roles to bring about positive impacts for the community.
He stressed that being in a position of influence comes with the duty to serve others rather than expecting to be served. As a member of the royal family, Dr. Prempeh, along with NPP’s flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, expressed their commitment to serving humanity if elected to lead Ghana in the upcoming governance.
Royalty is not just a title or a privilege, but a call to service. It is a responsibility to lead, to guide, and to serve our people with humility and integrity.
Dr. Prempeh, also known as Napo in political circles, shared these thoughts on Thursday, July 25, 2024, during his visit to the Paramount Chief of New Juaben Traditional Area, Nana Kwadwo Yeboah Gyamfi, seeking his blessings and guidance as he begins his campaign journey.
The Chiefs paid close attention to his words, their faces reflecting wisdom and experience. Dr. Prempeh emphasized the importance of the traditional leaders’ role as custodians of Ghana’s traditions, culture, and values, urging them to serve as beacons of hope, symbols of unity, and sources of inspiration.
Napo, the Apedwafie royal, assured the traditional leaders that under Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s leadership, chieftaincy and religious institutions would be recognized as partners in the country’s development.
The Paramount Chief of the New Juaben Traditional Area, Nana Kwadwo Yeboah Gyamfi, warmly welcomed Napo and his entourage to his palace, expressing his belief that Napo’s elevation to the running mate was a result of his hard work, commitment, and dedication to service.
He prayed for divine blessings upon Napo’s life and expressed confidence that if the NPP wins the 2024 general elections, Dr. Prempeh and Dr. Bawumia will serve the country diligently.
I am convinced that Napo and Bawumia will succeed. Their journey ahead is not easy, but I know that with hard work, they will succeed.
The traditional leaders urged Dr. Prempeh to diligently address the issue of illegal mining, also known as galamsey, as it is negatively impacting their water sources.
They also implored him to focus on creating job opportunities for the unemployed youth to help them secure a stable income. Moreover, the chiefs requested Dr. Prempeh to collaborate closely with Dr. Bawumia to finish all ongoing projects initiated by the previous administration that were left incomplete.
Dr. Napo was joined by Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organizer of the NPP, Seth Acheampong, the Eastern Regional Minister, Jeff Konadu, the Eastern Regional executives of the NPP, Osei Bonsu Amoah, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development, as well as the Parliamentary candidates for New Juaben North and South, Kwame Appiah Kodua, and Michael Okyere Baafi.
