PARAMOUNT CHIEFS IN NADOWLI/KALEO DISTRICT BACK DR. BAWUMIA FOR 2024 ELECTION

The five Paramount Chiefs in the Nadowli/Kaleo District of the Upper West Region have expressed their confidence in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s ability to lead Ghana towards enhanced development.

In a speech read on their behalf during Dr. Bawumia’s engagement with chiefs and opinion leaders in Nadowli last Wednesday, the chiefs from Nadowli, Takpo, Charipkong, Kaleo, and Sankana pledged their support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer in the upcoming December 7, 2024 election.

The chiefs highlighted the recent development projects in the district, including the upgrading of feeder roads, construction of bridges, and gravelling of roads. They emphasized that these improvements have significantly boosted accessibility and facilitated economic activities.

To show their appreciation, the chiefs vowed to vote for Dr. Bawumia to continue the NPP government’s development efforts. “Mr. Vice-President, we pledge the support of the chiefs and good people of the Nadowli Kaleo Constituency to vote massively for you to become the President of the Republic of Ghana. We believe in your leadership and vision for our nation,” they declared.

The chiefs also appealed to Dr. Bawumia for the establishment of small-scale mining concessions for the youth, a health training institution, and a mortuary in the district to aid in corpse preservation.

In response, Dr. Bawumia reiterated his promise to review Section 63 (D) of the Chieftaincy Act to grant more adjudicatory powers to traditional authorities, which would enhance justice delivery. He explained that resolving disputes in palaces rather than courts could speed up justice delivery. Dr. Bawumia also pledged to pay a living wage to paramount and divisional chiefs and their queens if elected as President.

During another engagement in Nandom, Dr. Bawumia urged voters to reject former President John Mahama, describing the NDC flagbearer as “someone who represents the past of the country.” He asserted that Mahama had no better policies to improve the livelihoods of Ghanaians.

“John Mahama represents the past of this country and Dr. Bawumia represents the future of this country as well…so forget about him and choose the future,” he told enthusiastic NPP supporters.

The strong backing from the Paramount Chiefs in Nadowli/Kaleo District underscores the significant support Dr. Bawumia has garnered at the grassroots level. Their endorsement reflects a belief in his leadership and vision for the future of Ghana, setting a positive tone for his campaign as he continues to engage with communities nationwide.
