Collins Adomako Mensah, the NPP Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North, asserts that former President John Dramani Mahama cannot evade a debate with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has proposed a debate to outline their visions to the Ghanaian people ahead of the December 7 elections.
However, the National Democratic Congress has declined the invitation for their presidential candidate to engage in a debate with the Vice President. Despite this, Collins Adomako remains confident that the presidential debate will take place.
He urges Mr. Mahama to participate and engage with Dr. Bawumia to present their policies and compare their track records.
We will force him to debate…I plead with His Excellency Mahama; we all know he is a good communicator. He should come and let’s have a debate. Bawumia is ready.
The interesting thing is that, normally, from history even in Ghana, it is the candidate in opposition who is more eager. The one in opposition is always calling for a debate but this time round, it is the candidate in power who the economy has even become a problem for him who says I am prepared to defend my record.
Debate helps us Ghanaians; how you can think sharp on your feet. It’s important; it’s very, very important…It will give us an opportunity to listen to the two leading candidates.
