AFAG: MAHAMA NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE HIS FAILURES AND OFFER AN APOLOGY TO THE GHANAIAN PEOPLE.

The Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) is calling on former President John Mahama to acknowledge his past mistakes and apologize to the Ghanaian people. According to AFAG, Mahama’s return to politics appears opportunistic and marked by inconsistent policies.

AFAG points out a 2016 statement from Mahama where he claimed that “four years is not enough for any president” and noted that the constitution allows for a second term for sitting presidents. They question why Mahama is pursuing re-election when he has only one remaining four-year term. They suggest his bid for re-election may be motivated by ego or ambition rather than a genuine intent to serve.

The group highlights that the economic problems caused by Mahama’s previous administration still impact Ghanaians today. They argue that Mahama should acknowledge his failures and offer a sincere apology to the nation.

John Mahama Must Admit His Failure and Apologize to Ghanaians – AFAG

Former President Mahama’s return to politics is characterized by opportunism and inconsistent policies. In 2016, Mahama told Ghanaians that “four years is not enough for any president” and that the constitution allowed for a second term. Given that he only has one four-year term left, one might question whether his pursuit of re-election is driven by ego or ambition.

The economic turmoil caused by Mahama’s previous administration continues to affect many Ghanaians. It is only fair and proper for Mahama to admit his past failures and offer a genuine apology to the country. He has not demonstrated any new vision or policy proposals for the future, merely repeating old rhetoric. This suggests that Mahama is stuck in the past.

As the leader of the main opposition party, we expect him to recognize the changes both locally and globally, including the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted economies and supply chains worldwide. His continued focus on outdated narratives is unhelpful and lacks relevance in addressing current issues.

AFAG urges John Mahama to elevate the political discourse and focus on pressing issues that affect us locally and globally. The era of outdated political tactics must end if Ghana is to keep pace with the rest of the world.

We will hold Mahama accountable for his past actions and scrutinize his future goals, provided he offers an unqualified apology for his previous missteps.
