President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo highlighted his accomplishments in the transportation sector, emphasizing that since 2017, the government has successfully finished constructing more than 12,830 kilometers of roads and constructing six interchanges.
He characterized this as a significant achievement when compared to the previous administration. The president made these remarks on Wednesday, July 31, during the launch of the District Road Improvement Programme.
He stated that this initiative demonstrates the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia Government’s dedication to decentralizing development and ensuring that every part of Ghana reaps the benefits of progress and prosperity.
At the event, President Akufo-Addo revealed the deployment of an impressive fleet of 2,240 essential equipment, such as motor graders, backhoes, rollers, and more.
These tools are not merely machinery; they represent instruments of change and our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all Ghanaians.
Road infrastructure is the backbone of our economic growth and social development. By improving our road networks, we are enhancing connectivity, boosting economic activities, and improving the quality of life for countless Ghanaians.
This ambitious program will not only improve our road infrastructure but also create employment opportunities for 10,000 Ghanaians, including mechanics, engineers, and artisans. By empowering local assemblies with the necessary equipment and resources, we are fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility within our communities.
The success of this program depends on the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders. I urge our Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives to take full ownership of this initiative and adhere to the Operational Manual issued by supervising Ministries and key stakeholders.
