DR. BAWUMIA REBUKES NDC’S PESSIMISM, EMPHASIZES NPP’S COMMITMENT TO BOLD INITIATIVES

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 flag bearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has criticized the persistent pessimism of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) towards ambitious initiatives proposed by the NPP. Speaking to participants during a health walk in Akuapem, Eastern Region, on Saturday morning, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the NPP’s proven track record of implementing their proposed policies despite opposition skepticism.

Addressing the crowd, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of determination and faith in achieving developmental goals. He pointed out that the NDC often discourages efforts towards ambitious initiatives, labeling them as impossible.

“For NDC, whenever you want to do something, they will discourage you and claim that our ambitious initiative is impossible. They are pessimistic about everything. Everything we try to do, they say it is impossible,” he stated.

Dr. Bawumia underscored his belief in the power of determination and divine support in overcoming challenges.

“But for me, I know that with God, it is possible! There is nothing under this sun that when you are determined and you work at it you won’t succeed. So yes, we can. Yes, it is possible,” he added.

Citing specific achievements, Dr. Bawumia pointed to the successful implementation of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme, which has provided access to education for thousands of students who might have otherwise been unable to afford it. This initiative, initially met with skepticism from the NDC, has now become a cornerstone of the NPP’s educational reforms.

Another notable achievement is the One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative, aimed at promoting industrialization and creating jobs across the country. Despite initial doubts from the opposition, the programme has led to the establishment of several factories, contributing to economic growth and job creation.

Similarly, the government’s strides in digitalization, including the introduction of the national digital property addressing system, mobile money interoperability, and the digitization of public services, have enhanced efficiency and transparency.

In concluding his address, Dr. Bawumia reiterated the NPP’s commitment to pushing forward with innovative and impactful policies, regardless of the opposition’s skepticism.

“The NPP is committed to delivering on its promises and driving Ghana towards a brighter future. With determination, hard work, and faith, we will continue to overcome challenges and achieve our goals,” he affirmed.
